Using Library Services from Off-Campus
-

Are you studying at a Champlain Abroad siste? Earning a Champlain degree online? Living off-campus? You can still use the Library!

Here are some good ways to get started:

•  The library website is a natural starting point for online research (more on that below).  Using it as a starting point, you can link to library databases, learn tips for starting a research project, find online books and journals, read the library blog, and much more.

•  Discover online journals! Champlain subscribes to over 70 databases in a wide variety of disciplines (use the "Databases by Subject" link). Through these databases, you have access to over 26,000 journal titles -- all with full text online via the library website (see the "List of Full-text Journals" link).

•  Discover online books! Champlain's collection includes over 43,000 e-books.   Use the library's online catalog as your starting point for these full-text online books.

•  Remote access is easy! All Champlain College students, faculty, and staff can easily gain access to the Library's research databases from off-campus.   Simply choose a database from one of the Library web pages and click on it. If you are off-campus, a Champlain College Library screen will prompt you to enter your Champlain username and password. Type the same username and password that you use for the "my.champlain" campus portal, then click on the "Login" button. (If you don't know your username and password, or if you experience problems logging on, please contact the Computer Helpdesk at (802) 860-2710 or send e-mail to helpdesk@champlain.edu.) You should then be redirected automatically to the database you requested. Once you have authenticated yourself, you can use other databases from the Library web pages during the same session without having to log in again. NOTE: All library databases appear to be working well with the proxy system (August, 2007). However, we are still experiencing sporadic problems with some e-books. We ask for your patience as we work to remedy this.

•  Get in touch!   To communicate directly with a Champlain College librarian, send e-mail to referencedesk@champlain.edu, call 802-865-6486 (weekdays), or use our chat reference service!
